What We Believe

Communities are — by definition — not for everyone.
Cohort members:

01

Treat community participation as reciprocal, not transactional.
Cohort members will give and get in unexpected ways. We don’t keep score.

02

Keep conversations confidential.
You can say that you’re part of Cohort and share your experience within reason, but the details of conversations must be kept secret. This is a rule people love to over-complicate, but we’re confident that you know when you’ve said too much.

03

Do what we say we’re going to do.

From showing up on-time to sending that random link we said we’d share, we follow through.

04

Keep our identities flexible.

We try to avoid absolutes (“I’d never…” / “I’m not the kind of person who…” / “I could only be happy if…”) It’s hard to evolve with a fixed view of who we are.

05

Get caught trying.

Better to get caught trying than to fail because you won’t ask for advice or put yourself out there.

Our norms aren’t vague value statements; they’re clear expectations for how community members behave, designed to bolster our individual and collective success.
